There is nothing greater in life than waking up to your mission, not your job, every day.
At Banic Chiropractic and Massage Clinic, we are committed to lifelong learning and constant progress for the benefit of our patients and their families. We pledge to provide superior quality and strive to make the environment and services within our practice exceed the expectations of our clientele.
While our initial interest is the elimination of your pain, our fundamental goal is to restore your spinal position to as close to the established normal alignment as possible. Building on this foundation, we support our patientís health by empowering them, with scientifically-based common sense solutions, to progressively eliminate risk factors and improve fitness and wellness.
Chiropractors specialize in the care of the spine. The spine has two functions:
1) The spine protects the spinal cord, the river carrying information throughout your body. A healthy spine is ESSENTIAL to our overall heath. The way your body works is; the brain sends and receives signals up and down the spinal cord and out through the joints in the spine, to and from all the muscles and organs in your body.
2) The spine supports you and holds you upright against the force of gravity. This is called your POSTURE. If you have bad posture, your spine is in a high risk position that will be more prone to injury and your joints will wear out sooner.
Because of different injuries in our lives, some sudden and some over time, the bones in our spine shift out of place, distorting our posture and placing abnormal loads on joints. The majority of postural distortions donít initially cause pain. However, as our posture weakens, joints begin to wear under the pressure, becoming swollen, painful and eventually developing degeneration. By the time you are in PAIN, the effected joints have released chemicals that INFLAME nerves and your body is in a CRISIS.
The pain is your WARNING that there is an underlying problem. You are not lacking pain medication, you are lacking postural control and stability. Some people get to the point where the nerve signals traveling through the spinal cord are actually impaired; leading to numbness and tingling in the hands or feet, radiating pain into the legs, and even organ dysfunction and disease.
Preventative health is about managing your risk factors; all the ways you deviate from normal measures. Normal posture is the upright posture that requires the least energy to maintain. Posture is one of the most simple, but difficult aspects of our everyday lifestyles. Whether it is at work or play, keeping good posture is of utmost importance. Even small shifts away from normal significantly increase the work your muscles must do as you go through your normal activities of living. The various types of postural abnormalities represent a PROGRESSIVE condition. They will not correct themselves and will continue to get worse under the constant force of gravity. This is made worse if you gain weight as you age.
Over your lifetime, losing posture affects not just how you look, but how you feel and how well all processes in the body work.
Chiropractic doctors are trained to detect spinal abnormalities even in the youngest spines. Many of the patients seen in our office have spinal degeneration (decay) which has taken years and in some cases a lifetime to develop. The trauma of the birth process, slips, falls, accidents and countless other stresses over the course of your lifetime adversely affect the health of your spine. The longer you wait to have your spine checked by the chiropractors at Banic Chiropractic and Massage, the longer it will take to correct postural and structural abnormalities. Our chiropractors see abnormal posture, feel muscle spasms, and if needed, verify spinal abnormalities with x-rays. These spinal abnormalities can then be corrected, not allowing them to lead to pain and dysfunction later in life.
We treat patients for as little as a few weeks to as long as two years, depending on their current health conditions. The extent to which you choose to benefit from your rehabilitation is ultimately up to you. Each and every one of us is solely responsible for the quality of our health and wellbeing. Once a patientís treatment plan is complete and our goals are achieved, we do strongly urge all patients to continue what we refer to as maintenance care. This is where the long-term, lasting benefits of care are enjoyed. Regular exercise and healthy eating habits are lifestyle decisions and so is lifetime, wellness care.
However, how you choose to use rehabilitation is ultimately up to you. It has been our experience that those who stop care prior to the conclusion of their treatment plan because they are ďfeeling fineĒ return with the same health challenge(s) which brought them to our office in the first placeÖonly itís typically worse. On the other hand, those patients who commit to rehabilitation to correct their health conditions find their health challenge(s) rarely return and they enjoy a higher quality of life and health.
